2011-2012 Women's Basketball Roster

Kim Brewton

Assistant Coach

Veteran collegiate assistant women's basketball coach Kim Brewton was named the newest addition to the Middle Tennessee coaching staff in July 2010 and she will begin her second season with the Blue Raiders in 2011-12.

"To be able to get someone with Kim's ability is what we needed," Insell said. "She has a great personality and brings a lot of experience at the Division I game to the staff. She has been in this game for eight years and knows the ins and outs of recruiting. We just feel very fortunate to have her join us."

In her first season with the MT program, Brewton was instrumental in the development of the perimeter players, which included senior Anne Marie Lanning netting her 1,000th career point and being selected to the All-Sun Belt First Team. Sophomore point guard Kortni Jones also moved into second place on the school's single-season list for assists under Brewton's watch.

Brewton spent the previous six seasons, 2004-05 through 2009-10, as an assistant for her father, Rick Reeves, at Gardner-Webb in Boiling Springs, N.C.

While with the Runnin' Bulldogs, she was the team's recruiting coordinator and helped bring in a nationally-ranked class in 2007-08.

The program tallied just five wins in the year before she was hired but registered a school-record 28 in 2009-10, including 16 consecutive, on its way to the first Big South regular-season crown in school history and a WNIT berth. She coached Margaret Roundtree to Big South Player of the Year accolades, while three others made the all-conference teams during her tenure.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to come on board at Middle Tennessee," Brewton said. "To see the program take off the last couple of years, I want to help it reach a higher level."

The Lynchburg, Va., native spent the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons as the administrative assistant and radio color analyst at Southern Miss. She completed her master's degree in sports administration at Southern Miss in 2002.

Brewton was a three-year letterwinner at Liberty in Lynchburg, Va., where she played for her father for two years. The Flames won three-straight Big South titles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament three times, including the 1998 campaign, in which they were 28-0 entering the field only to be stopped in the opening round by top seed and eventual national champion Tennessee.

She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Liberty in 2000, earning her bachelor's degree in sports management.

Brewton is the mother of two daughters, Grace (8) and Kalyn (4). She was married in August 2011 to Eric Brewton.
