Myra Fishback begins her first year as an assistant coach for the Middle Tennessee women's basketball program.
"This is a blessing and an honor to have this opportunity," said Fishback. "Middle Tennessee is a phenomenal university and working with coach Rick Insell is like a dream come true. The chance to work with coach Insell and the leaders of this fine institution was too good to pass up when I got the call. I am excited about being a Blue Raider."
Fishback, who has 14 years of Division I coaching experience, comes to Middle Tennessee after spending two years as the Assistant Director of Membership Services at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Prior to her stint at the NCAA, Fishback spent one year as the Assistant Director of Compliance and Championships at Conference USA.
Her coaching experience began at Tennessee Tech as a graduate assistant from 1987 to 1989 before taking her first full-time coaching position at Southern Illinois from 1989 to 1991. At SIU, Fishback dealt with on and off campus recruiting as well as scouting, on-floor coaching, and assisting with post players.
Fishback then moved to the University of Kentucky where she was an assistant for one year (1991-92). She then returned to Tennessee Tech as an assistant under Bill Worrell from 1992-99. From 1999-2001, Fishback was an assistant at Stony Brook University and also worked as the Assistant Director of Compliance.
Fishback earned her B.S. degree in secondary education from Tennessee Tech in 1985 and picked up her M.A. in Education at Tech in 1989.
