A former assistant coach for 15 years at Middle Tennessee, Tom Fiveash begins his seventh season as the director of football operations and his 22nd at the University.
Fiveash is responsible for all operations dealing with the football program. He's an administrative assistant to the head coach, organizing recruiting weekends and Middle Tennessee's camps and clinics. Fiveash will also be involved with on-campus recruiting and will oversee the equipment department, which is the program's budget. One of his biggest jobs during the season is handling all of the team's travel plans and organizing and setting up all meeting rooms and team meals.
In 2001, Fiveash added football scheduling to his list of duties.
Fiveash, an original member of former coach Boots Donnelly's staff at Middle Tennessee in 1979, was an all-OVC tackle in the early '60s for the Blue Raiders.
Following graduation in 1965, Fiveash spent the next 12 years in Georgia's high school coaching ranks before joining Donnelly at Austin Peay in 1978.
Fiveash moved with Donnelly to Middle Tennessee in 1979 before returning to Georgia in 1981 to head the program at Social Circle High School.
He returned to the Blue Raiders in 1983 and coached the defensive line through the 1990 season. In 1992, Fiveash was named head coach at Father Ryan High School, where he remained before returning to Middle Tennessee in 1994.
After spending most of his career coaching the defensive line at Middle Tennessee, Fiveash took over as offensive line coach in 1994. In 1997 and 1998, Fiveash was the defensive coordinator for the Blue Raiders.
He and his wife Betsy have a daughter, Beth, a son, Paul, and two granddaughters, Hailey and Emma Kate.
