April 24, 2002 · MT Media Relations
NICEVILLE, Fla. - The Middle Tennessee Lady Raiders shot their lowest team score of the spring season Wednesday, firing a 311, highlighted by a 75 from Kristin Lynch, to finish seventh in the Sun Belt Championships at The Golf Club at Bluewater Bay.

Lynch had birdies on 1 and 13 and made 12 pars, including on the par-5 16th when she hit her tee shot in the fairway bunker and then found the sand again on her approach. The freshman got up-and-down to save par and preserve the best round of her collegiate career.

Kandace Burnett shot 76 to finish at 231 for the tournament, tied for seventh. The junior birdied 8 and 15 in her round.

Tamara Munsch, the Lady Raiders top finisher all year, fired a round of 78 to finish at 231, as well. Munsch had birdies at 5 and 11 and a par-saving putt from eight feet at 17. The sophomore earned all-conference honors from the selection by league coaches, announced after the tournament.

Kemmerlee Pennington came back from a 91 on Tuesday to shoot 82, 41 on both sides, to finish at 257 for the tournament. Pennington made nine pars in her round Wednesday.

Freshman Amanda Harter made her only birdie of the day at the 12th hole after making a sand save at 7 en route to an 89. Harter finished at 265 for the tourney.

Head coach Rachael Moore was ecstatic over her squad's best round of the spring, and said the girls did a good job with the details of the game on Wednesday.

"I am very pleased with the way we played today. We regrouped and paid more attention to club selection and course management and the details like wind," Moore said.

"We can really take the experiences from this tournament and build on it for next year. This was a tough competition and we can learn from it and build on it."

Moore was especially pleased with Lynch's best round this year, and said the freshman was so very close to breaking through this year.

"Kristin has been so close this season. I am proud and excited for her. She stayed focused on each shot and didn--'t get ahead of herself. She was mentally tough all day and it was her day."
