Herring Earns All-America Honors Again

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Senior Godfrey Herring finished sixth in the 400m at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships Saturday night in Baton Rouge, La., running 45.73 in the event finals to earn the fifth All-America honor of his career, the most decorated athlete in Middle Tennessee track history.

The senior from Pontiac, Mich., earned All-America honors in the 400m last year during the outdoor season, and three times during the indoor season from 2000-02.

Late Friday night, the men's 4x100m relay of DJ Spann, Fred Williams, Wesley Dupar-Scott and Herring finished ninth in the event finals, running 40.01 and just missing earning All-American status.

Middle Tennessee's final competitor in the national championships, sophomore Chris Koger, competed in the high jump late Saturday night at Bernie Moore Stadium on the LSU campus.
