Lady Raider Softball Signs Teammates

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee softball head coach Cindy Connelley picked up a pair of teammates with the signing of Katie Tompkins and Krystal Scott from Neosho Junior College in Chanute, KS on Thursday for the 2003 season.

Tompkins, who is an outfielder from Commerce, OK, was named First Team Junior College All-American in 2002. She had a .474 batting average and stole 36 bases and was selected First Team All-Conference, First Team All-Region and named one of the top five in the region.

Scott, a shortstop and utility player from Arlington, TX, was named second team All-Conference and First Team All-Region. She recorded a .404 batting average and had 60 RBI.

"We were looking for juniors to help balance our freshman class, and these junior college transfers will contribute greatly on and off the field," Connelley said. --"Katie and Krystal are veterans and first class players in every sense."
