MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- The Middle Tennessee soccer team opens the home schedule Friday with a 4 p.m. match against the Golden Eagles of Southern Miss at the Blue Raider Soccer Field. The Blue Raiders will also host Drury at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Middle Tennessee comes off a 4-1 victory at Lipscomb Tuesday, where the Blue Raiders scored twice in each half to notch their first win of the campaign. Sarah Linder, Emily Carter, Brooke Ward and Megan McGregor each tallied goals in the triumph.

The Blue Raiders lost at Southern Miss in last year's season-opener, with USM scoring the only goal midway through the second half on a penalty kick in a match played on a very wet turf in the drizzle in Hattiesburg. The Golden Eagles enter the contest 1-2 on the season, same as the Blue Raiders, after picking up their first win at Mississippi State, 3-2, on Tuesday night.

Middle Tennessee and Drury have met twice previously, with both squads winning once. The Panthers took a 6-0 decision at home in 1998, and the Blue Raiders picked up a 1-0 victory at home in 2000. Drury plays host to Oklahoma Friday night before traveling to Murfreesboro for Sunday's tilt.

The Blue Raiders travel to take on Auburn and Alabama next Friday and Sunday, respectively, before returning for their only other home match in the month of September, on the 20th against Alabama A&M.
