WILMINGTON, NC - Two Middle Tennessee Lady Raider double's teams advanced to the finals of the Doctor's Vision Center Invitational on Saturday on the campus of UNC-Wilmington.
The duo of Stacy Varnell and Carien Venter win 9-7 in the semi-finals of Flight A doubles to advance to the finals on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. In the second round losers bracket of Flight A doubles Jennifer Klaschka and Laura McNamara won 8-1 to advance to the finals.
In singles, Venter advanced to the finals with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Charlotte's Ashleigh Murray in the Flight A First Round Losers bracket. Also in Flight A, Klaschka lost to Furman's Mary Kovanik 2-6, 3-6 and will play for third place on Sunday. Varnell also advanced to the finals in the Flight B Second Round Losers bracket with a 6-2, 6-2 win over College of Charleston's Dana Goffin.
