Lady Raiders Toppled by Lady Toppers 3-1

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee volleyball (9-5, 0-1 SBC) fell to Western Kentucky (15-4, 1-0, SBC) 3-1 (27-30, 30-23, 26-30, 28-30) in the opening match of Sun Belt play Wednesday at Alumni Gym.

The Lady Raiders played four close games and even outpaced the Lady Toppers in hitting percentage with Middle Tennessee at .244 and Western Kentucky at .196. Errors played a factor as the Lady Raiders had 30 attack errors to Western Kentucky's 24 and 12 service errors to WKU's nine.

Middle Tennessee was lead by sophomore KeKe Deckard who had yet another double-double night with 16 kills and 16 digs. She was followed by senior Katie Thiesen who had 12 and Dara McLean and Jennifer Hignite had 11 and 10 respectively.

The Lady Raiders will continue their home Sun Belt Conference stand when the team hosts North Texas on Friday. Game time is set for 7 p.m. in Alumni Gym.
