Softball Goes 2-0 at Evansville Tourney

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Middle Tennessee softball went 2-0 on Saturday at the Evansville University Fall Tournament.

In the Lady Raiders first game, junior Cortney Mitchell broke a 2-2 tie with a three run homerun in the eighth inning. Overall, Mitchell went 2-4 in the game with a triple, homerun, four RBI and two runs scored.

Pitcher Jen Dorais picked up the win. She threw two innings allowing a hit, a run and a walk. Senior Stayc Preator went five innings, allowing two hits and had five strikeouts.

Middle Tennessee found itself tied again, late in the game when the Lady Raiders faced Georgetown College later in the day. Sophomore catcher Leah Grothause broke the tie with a two run single. Mitchell went 3-4 in the game, Dani DeCamino 2-3 and Katie Tompkins 2-3.

Freshman Valerie Swanson picked up the win and Tiffany Childress picked up the save.
