Softball Wins Evansville Tourney

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Middle Tennessee softball won the Evansville Fall Tournament with a 7-3 win over host Evansville Sunday.

Tied 2-2 at the top of the ninth, Senior Megan Cherinka broke up the game with a two run shot over the left field fence. Overall the Lady Raiders scored five runs in the ninth inning.

Senior hurler Stayc Preator pitched a complete game allowing eight hits, one earned run, a walk and had nine strikeouts. Freshman Muriel Ledbetter had the first homerun of her college career early in the game.

In the earlier game, Middle Tennessee fell 4-2 to Evansville. The game was tied at the top of the eighth, but Evansville scored three runs to take the game.

Freshman Tiffany Childress picked up the loss. Erica Buhl, Kip Phillips and Jen Dorais each had a double in the game.

The Lady Raiders complete their fall schedule when the team hosts the Middle Tennessee Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
