Softball Undefeated in Home Tourney
October 7, 2002 · MT Media RelationsThe Lady Raiders began the day with a 5-1 win over Motlow State. Junior Katie Tompkins broke a scoreless game in the second inning with a one out three run single. Freshman Tiffany Childress picked up the win allowing three hits, three walks, an earned run and striking out two in five innings of work.
Middle Tennessee shut out Chattanooga State 3-0 with senior hurler Stayc Preator on the mound. Preator went six innings, allowing just three hits and striking out 11. Senior Kip Phillips went two for four scoring two runs and had two stolen bases. Junior Cortney Mitchell also went two for four with one run scored and one RBI.
Krystal Scott went three for three with an RBI and a run scored in the Lady Raiders 8-0 pasting of Tennessee State to close out the tournament. Muriel Ledbetter picked up the win, going four innings allowing one hit and one walk.
