Blue Raiders Drop 4-2 Decision

Forrest scored in the third minute of the match on a free kick from 25 yards to give the Lady Panthers (9-6-3) a quick 1-0 advantage, but the Blue Raiders came right back to knot the match at one. Lindsey Bopp sailed a long shot from 40 yards into the net in the fourth minute.
The Lady Panthers would score twice more in the first half on breakaways, as Forrest fed Brooks Daniel in the 15th minute for a score, and then Kelly Higgins assisted on a Laura Walls goal in the 36th minute for a 3-1 GSU lead at halftime.
After the break Shanna Stricklin and Forrest assisted on a Sarah Feske goal in the 48th minute, but the Blue Raiders cut the deficit to two when freshman and Murfreesboro native Brooke Ward scored in the 83rd minute on an assist from Laura Miguez.
Middle Tennessee (8-9-1) continued with the pressure for the final seven minutes, but could not muster another score.
Georgia State out shot the Blue Raiders, 18-15, in the match, and had eight corners to four for Middle Tennessee. Blue Raider keeper Emily Shrum made four saves in the opening 45 minutes, while Danielle Perreault came on in the second half to make six saves.
The Blue Raiders finish the regular season this weekend with a pair of matches, hosting South Alabama Friday at 2 p.m., and then finishing the home schedule Sunday with a 1 p.m. tilt versus Louisiana-Lafayette.
