Jackson Wins Twice at Region Championships

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's Kirk Jackson won twice and freshman Brandon Allan won his first-round match Friday at the ITA Region III Championships in Lexington, Ky., at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex.

Jackson defeated Mississippi State's Jerome LeBelicard, 6-3, 6-2, Friday morning before taking care of 14th-seeded Evan Austin, 6-3, 7-6 (6) in the afternoon to advance to the Round of 32. Jackson will play the winner of Mississippi State's Max Fomine and Florida's Matt Behrmann on Saturday.

In other singles action, Allan won 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-2 over South Florida's Uti Kiendl and was to play Chattanooga's Jason Ontog late Friday afternoon. Middle Tennessee's Michael Staniak was the only singles loser, dropping a 6-0, 6-1 decision to LSU's Jason Hazley.

Daniel Klemetz and Jackson will take on the winner of Karim Alaily-Patrick Chucri of Ole Miss and Chris Magnone-Miha Lisac of Georgia State late Friday in doubles, and Staniak and Allan will play Matt Armstrong and Fomine of Mississippi State.

The tournament concludes Monday with the finals, and winners will advance to the National Indoor Championships, set for November 7-10 in Dallas, Texas.
