Lady Raiders in 7th after Round One

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. - The Middle Tennessee women's golf team shot their third best score of the fall season on Monday, but stand in seventh place at the highly competitive John Kirk/Lady Panther Intercollegiate. The Lady Raiders shot a 308 during the opening round of the 12-team tournament.

"I look at our score and it is hard to believe we are in seventh place," head coach Rachael Moore said. "The course was extremely wet and played very tough, but I am proud of the way the girls finished."

Tamara Munsch led the way for Middle Tennessee with an opening round score of 76 to tie for 19th overall. Munsch fired a 39 on the front, then came back with a 37 on the back nine. Kristin Lynch and Amanda Harter are tied for 22nd after recording rounds of 77.

Kandace Burnett is tied for 28th with a 78, which included the team's best nine-hole score of 35 on the back side. Freshman Grace Holmes completed the scoring with a 79 to stand in a tie for 32nd.

The Lady Raiders will play the second round on Tuesday before completing the tournament with 18 holes on Wednesday.
