TAMPA, Fla. - Middle Tennessee shot a disappointing opening round of 316 to stand in a tie for 12th at the South Florida Invitational. The 54-hole event is being played on the par 71 USF course.
Sun Belt Conference foe South Alabama took the early overall lead with a 287 on Friday, while Jacksonville State is five shots back in second.
Patrick Williams, who is coming off the best fall season of his career, carded a three-over par 74 to tie for 12th. Charlie Gibson is tied for 39th with a 79, while Blake Bivens is in a tie for 49th after registering an 80.
The Blue Raiders will play the second round beginning on Saturday morning.
