MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee head coach Aston Rhoden announced the signing of Franklin, Tenn., native Sara Wohlhueter to a National Letter of Intent on Monday, the eigthth signee for the Blue Raiders this year.

The 5-11 defender attends Franklin High School and is the teammate of fellow signee Katy Rayburn. The duo led FHS to state championships in 2000 and 2002, state runner-up finishes in 1999 and 2001, and compiled a 77-15-2 record over the past four years with 43 shutouts.

Wohlhueter has been a four-year letterwinner for coach Jimmy Burchett at FHS, earning All-District honors twice and All-Midstate recognition once. She has also been named All-State once and was the team's best defender as a senior.

Her Tennessee Futbol Club team won a state title in 2002, as well, and finished as the runner-up the previous two years. She has also been a member of the Tennessee ODP for three years.

Wohlhueter has also earned varsity letters in basketball (three), track (two) and tennis (two), earning a regional medallist honor in track and the Most Improved award as a junior in tennis.

"Sara has a strong physical presence with a good work ethic and good speed," Rhoden said. "She is very strong in the air and has good field awareness."

The Blue Raiders are on Spring Break this week and will begin their spring schedule when they return next week.
