Preator Streaks to 24 Scoreless Innings in Split
April 18, 2003 · MT Media RelationsMURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Senior hurler Stayc Preator picked up her 17th win of the year and has thrown 24 scoreless innings as she threw a three hit shutout in the Middle Tennessee's (25-16) 4-0 win over Lipscomb (18-20) Friday. The Lady Raiders dropped game two 5-4.
Sophomore Dani DeCamino hit a homerun over the right centerfield wall in a two RBI effort to get the first runs of the game in the bottom of the third inning in game one. It was the eighth homerun of her career, which places her in second place for most homeruns in a career in the Lady Raider record books.
Middle Tennessee picked up another run in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single by Erica Buhl that plated Jennifer Dorais. In the bottom of the sixth it was a carbon copy of the fourth as a double by Buhl sent in Dorais for the fourth run of the game.
In game two, Buhl hit a lead-off homerun in the first inning. It was the first lead off homerun in school history for the Lady Raiders.
Lipscomb answered with two runs in the top of the second inning and then added one more in the top of the third when Leslie Ellis hit a homerun over the left field wall. Two batters later, Megan Olson hit the second homerun of the inning in a two RBI effort.
Middle Tennessee added one run in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI single by Dorais. Megan Cherinka pulled the Lady Raider to within one in the bottom of the seventh when she hit a two RBI double to send in Phillips and Leah Grothause. Valerie Swanson takes the loss on the mound in game two and falls to 1-2.
The Lady Raiders will host Tennessee State on Tuesday April 22. Double header action begins at 4 p.m. at Lady Raider Field.
