GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Middle Tennessee women's tennis players Manon Kruse and Stacy Varnell will compete in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships beginning Monday on the University of Florida campus.

Kruse, ranked No. 52 by the ITA in singles, begins her quest for All-American status on Monday morning. She is paired against No. 5 seed and 10th ranked Jewel Peterson of Southern Cal. The match is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. EST.

On Tuesday, Kruse will pair up with doubles partner Varnell, ranked 19th in the ITA, to face in-state rivals Sarah Riske and Aleke Tsoubanos of Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt's tangent is ranked 3rd in the ITA and is seeded third. The two pairs faced each other at the start of the spring season in Nashville as Riske and Tsoubanos defeated Kruse and Varnell 8-1.

This is the second straight NCAA appearance for Kruse and Varnell. The trailblazers for the Middle Tennessee women's tennis program just missed All-American status by one round in 2002.
