Volleyball Sweeps Miami of Ohio 3-0

September 8, 2006 · MT Media RelationsMURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee volleyball (5-2) played its first home match of the season and picked up a 3-0 (30-26, 30-23, 30-19) win over Miami of Ohio (3-5) on Friday in the opening match of the Blue Raider Bash in Alumni Memorial Gym.
The squad got off to a slow start, struggling early with the Redhawks. There were five ties in game one before Middle Tennessee pulled away with the win with back-to-back kills from Megan Sumrell and Ashley Adams. Game two saw the Blue Raiders hit a scorching .438 with 18 kills and just four errors. In game three Middle Tennessee forced Miami to a -.034 attack percentage.
Overall, the Blue Raiders hit .340 in the match with 50 kills and just 14 errors. Middle Tennessee also had three service errors. Sophomore Ashley Adams led the Blue Raiders with 15 kills on 22 attacks and just one error. Quanshell Scott also recorded double figure kills with 10 kills. Alicia Lemau'u added 13 digs.
Middle Tennessee returns to action on Saturday hosting Illinois-Chicago at noon and St. Louis at 5 p.m. in the AMG.
