Volleyball Swept by Creighton 3-0
September 10, 2006 · MT Media RelationsMURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee volleyball (6-4) was swept 3-0 (23-30, 27-30, 29-31) by Creighton (8-1) in the final match of the Blue Raider Bash Sunday in Alumni Memorial Gym.
The Blue Raider's fourth loss this season matches the number of losses the club suffered in total in 2005. Middle Tennessee has now dropped two matches at home in 2006, and only lost three at home in 2005.
Middle Tennessee played from behind the entire match and just when it seemed the Blue Raiders would start a rally, Creighton would come up with a huge block or kill. The Bluejays also benefited from seven service aces and also averaged 10 blocks in the match.
Neither team hit very well in the match as Creighton hit .180 and Middle Tennessee had .136. Middle Tennessee had a total of 40 kills in the match while Creighton recorded 51.
Junior Quanshell Scott led the Blue Raiders with 11 kills and also had two block assists. Prolific outside hitter Ashley Adams was held in check by Creighton as she could only muster seven kills but ended up with a zero attack percentage because she also had seven errors.
Middle Tennessee competes in its final tournament of the season as the club will compete at a tournament at Albany. The Blue Raiders open the tournament at 4 p.m. on Friday facing Temple.
