Murfreesboro, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee head volleyball coach Lisa Kissee announced the addition of Jay Umboh to her staff as an assistant coach Tuesday.

Umboh is a 1996 graduate of Middle Tennessee. While attending Middle Tennessee he played for the men's volleyball club team and served as tem president and captain for two years.

"It's nice to be back in Murfreesboro," Umboh said. "I've always wanted to work with the
MTSU volleyball program."

In a ten- year span, Umbroh played in the USAV and AVA leagues. He coached Junior Olympic Volleyball Clubs in Nashville and Murfreesboro and was the director of the SportsComs Juniors in Murfreesboro for two years.

Umboh spent one year as an assistant with the UT-Chattanooga volleyball program. While there, he helped the team to their highest winning percentage as the team reached the conference tournament finals. He also assisted in the recruiting of two of the current starters for UTC, in which one was named Freshman of the Year and a three time All Southern Conference team member.

"Jay has an excellent understanding of the strategies and training required at this level and a self-effacing passion for the game," Kissee said. "He has a proven ability to recruit.  He has an optimistic personality and is committed to the player's development."
