MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - One day after setting a school record for low round, the Middle Tennessee women's golf team set another standard for low three-round score with an 895 at the Unlimited Potential Classic Tuesday afternoon.

The Blue Raiders bested the previous mark of 904 for low three-round score, which was set at the 2005 Lady Eagle Invitational. Despite their record-setting play at the Shaftesbury Glen Golf Course, the Blue Raiders had to settle for a third-place finish, five strokes off host College of Charleston's 890 finish. Southern Illinois was third with an 892.

Middle Tennessee's 288 in the first round was a school record for low round, and the Blue Raiders followed with a 305 in the second round and closed with a 302.

"Overall, I am pretty pleased with the scores," Middle Tennessee coach Rachel Short said. "I can't complain with the scores we shot. We would have loved to have won but we played well and the other two teams were just the better teams today. We came out of here with some positives. The girls are playing well and we set a school record for low round and low three-round score so we are playing well. We have a lot to build on before our next tournament."

Riding the strength of outstanding play throughout and par-4 scoring in particular, junior Tayrn Durham shot 2-over for the tournament to lead Middle Tennessee with a 221. She finished tied for sixth overall. Durham led the field of 90 with a 6-under on par-4 scoring and she totaled eight birdies, which was tied for fourth overall. In all, Durham shot par or better on 46 of the 54 holes played.

Clara Leathers and Leigh Wilkins tied for 15th overall at 225, while Maggie McGill came in tied for 26th with a 229. Tasha Gough was 40th with a 236.

Middle Tennessee led the 16-team field with 187 pars and was in the middle of the pack with 27 birdies. The Blue Raiders also led the tournament in par-4 scoring, where they were 13-over for the tournament.
