HAINES GETS MANAGER POSITION: Former Middle Tennessee assistant coach Andy Haines has accepted a position as manager of the Windy City (IL) ThunderBolts in the Frontier League of Professional Baseball. Haines has spent the past two seasons as hitting coach and assistant director of player personnel for the Gary (IN) Southshore Railcats in the Northern League. During his tenure with Gary, the Railcats were the Northern League champions in 2005 and Eastern Division champions in 2006.

"Andy has the experience and the baseball connections to put together a winning roster," said ThunderBolts General Manager Tom O'Reilly. "He has a great sense for talent and a hard work ethic that will bring out the best in every player. I'm certain his personality will make him a fan favorite as well."

This will be the second tour of duty for Haines in the Frontier League, but the first as a manager. In 2002 he served under Railcats manager Greg Tagert as a coach for the Dubois County Dragons, who won the West Division championship with a 52-32 record.

"I am excited to be named the manager of the ThunderBolts," Haines said. "I look forward to the challenge and to bringing a winning team to the ThunderBolts fans."
