Blue Raiders Named All-Academic Team by NFCA

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee softball was named an All-Academic Team as announced by the National Fast Pitch Coaches Association for the 2005-06 academic year. The Blue Raiders were ranked No. 23 with a team GPA of 3.30.
"I am very proud of our team for the hard work they are putting into their studies," said Head Coach Leigh Podlesny. "Our entire staff is excited that our program is being recognized by the NFCA for their effort and commitment to academic excellence."
Middle Tennessee also had six players voted as NFCA Scholar Athletes. The list includes Muriel Ledbetter (3.60), Shelby Stiner (3.54), Katie Mielke (3.60), Mabern Barnes (3.74) and seniors from last year Jennifer Dorais (3.64) and Michelle Wilkes (3.53).
The Blue Raiders have also won the Sun Belt Team Academic award the last two seasons.
