FORT MYERS, Fla. - Every Middle Tennessee golfer either matched or improved upon their second round score during the final round of the GSU/Pelican Preserve Invite here Wednesday. Unfortunately, for the Blue Raiders, every team in front of them enjoyed a better day, as well, and Middle Tennessee settled for a ninth-place finish.

Jamey Dillard led Middle Tennessee and was 7-over for the tournament with a 223, which tied for 20th overall. It was her first tournament of the fall. Dillard shot par or better in two of the three rounds, including a career-low 71 in the first round. She capped the strong showing with a 72 in the final round.

"I was pleased with all the girls and especially Jamey," said Middle Tennessee coach Rachel Short. "It was her first tournament this fall and she really stepped up and played well. It was a very good showing."

Taryn Durham was 1-over Wednesday and finished with a 225, tied for 29th overall, but consistently rebounded from an uncharacteristic below average first round when she shot a 79. Durham came back with a 1-over 73 in the second and third rounds. It was a developing theme for Middle Tennessee as each of the five linksters finished on strong notes.

"Overall, we had put ourselves in good position in the first round with a 296 and we were strong in the final round with the 295 but the second round 305 is what kind of distanced us," Short said. "We continue to make strides and we can take some positives from this tournament." Leigh Wilkins and Maggie McGill finished with a 226 to tie for 31st, while Clara Leathers tallied a 231 for the tournament.
