Volleyball Defeats Belmont 3-0 in Home Opener

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee volleyball's (4-4) opening home game was a rousing success as the Lady Raiders defeated Belmont (0-5) 3-0 (30-22, 30-20, 30-18) to a loud an energetic crowd.

"The student support was awesome," said head coach Lisa Kissee. "I think at first we were a little tense because we were trying so hard due to the great fan support tonight."

The Lady Raiders had three players with double figure kills with junior Dara McLean leading the way with 12, and she also had five digs. KeKe Deckard and Karisse Baker each had 10 kills and setter Megan Sumrell dished out 22 assists.

Overall Middle Tennessee recorded a .257 attack percentage as opposed to Belmont's anemic .099. The Lady Raiders also scored 11 points off service aces with Baker accounting for a team leading four.

The Lady Raiders return to the road his weekend as Middle Tennessee participates in the Purdue Tournament on September 12-13.
