Blue Raiders Finish 10th at Mean Green Classic

LANTANA, Texas - Middle Tennessee shot a disappointing 305 in the final round of the Mean Green Classic to finish in 10th place out of 16 teams. The Blue Raiders shot a three-round total of 893 on the par 72 Lantana Golf Club Course.

Host North Texas won the event with an 867, which was nine strokes better than second place Houston. Louisiana-Monroe and McNeese State tied for third with a score of 880.

Blake Bivens and Josh Nelms led the way for Middle Tennessee with three-round scores of 222 to tie for 28th overall. Bivens fired a 77 in the final round, while Nelms had a 78.

Newcomer Chris Webb tied for 42nd with a 225, while senior Charlie Gibson tied for 62nd with a 229. Webb and Gibson both had the top rounds by Blue Raiders today with a 75. Jonathan Burns completed the scoring with a 240 to tie for 86th.

The Blue Raiders will step back into action on Sept. 29 at the Fred Marx Intercollegiate in Monroe, La.
