Lady Raiders Fall to Western Kentucky 3-0

September 28, 2003 · MT Media Relations
Bowling Green, Ky. - Middle Tennessee (7-10, 0-2) dropped its second Sun Belt Conference game with a 3-0 loss to Western Kentucky (13-4, 2-0) Sunday.

WKU opened the match with a 21-7 lead in the first game, but hitting errors brought the Lady Raiders back into the game. Despite a charge by MT, Western held on to take a 30-19 win in the opener.

The two teams traded point-for-point in the second game, playing to a 21-all tie late in the game. With the score knotted at 28-all, Lady Topper Crystal Towler came through with a kill to put Western ahead by one. Middle Tennessee followed with a hitting error to give WKU a 30-28 win in the second game.

Game three was close as well, with the Lady Toppers holding a slim 15-14 lead midway through the game. Western pulled away with a 12-7 run prior to a MT timeout to seal the game and earn the Lady Toppers their eighth sweep victory of the season.

Middle Tennessee's KeKe Dekard recorded a team-high 12 kills in the losing effort. The Lady Raiders return to the road next weekend for a swing through Arkansas taking on Arkansas-Little Rock and Arkansas State.
