MONROE, La. - After shooting the third-best round of the tournament in Monday's second round with a 288, Middle Tennessee put themselves in position for its first win of the year. The Blue Raiders fired a two-round total of 593 to stand in third place at the ULM/Fred Marx Invitational.

The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday.

Middle Tennessee is just two shots back of leader Stephen F. Austin and one back of host Louisiana-Monroe. McNeese State, who grabbed the first round lead, is behind MT in fourth with a 598.

The Blue Raiders rode the shoulders of senior Charlie Gibson, who is in fifth place overall with a 145. Gibson, who has struggled in the team's first two tournaments, had a 74 in the opening round before storming back to card a 1-under par 71 in the afternoon round.

Josh Nelms totaled a 150 to grab 17th, while Blake Bivens is in 19th place with a 151. Bivens shot a disappointing 80 in the first round, but regrouped to fire a 71 in round two.
