Blue Pounds Out 11-0 Victory

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Blue squad pounded out 14 hits and Chris Mobley threw six innings of one-hit ball to lead his squad to an 11-0 victory over the White in the second game of the annual Blue-White series Friday afternoon at Reese Smith Field.

Jeff Beachum, Michael McKenry and Josh Archer each had a pair of hits, while Clif Thomas went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run for the winners, who took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-three series.

The Blue squad pushed across four runs in the first and three more in both the third and sixth innings, scoring seven runs, five earned, off loser Chase Swing, who allowed 10 hits with one strikeout in four innings.

Mobley gave up just one single in his six innings of work, walking two and striking out three to get the victory. Danny Borne got the final three outs for the Blue, striking out two and allowing two hits.

Redshirt freshman Matt Scott, who has battled injuries since coming to Middle Tennessee, tossed the final three innings for the White, giving up four runs on four hits with three strikeouts.

Beachum, McKenry, Archer and Ryan Armstrong all scored twice for the winners, while Archer and David Patterson also had two RBIs each.

The final contest of the three-game series begins at approximately 11:45 a.m. Saturday at Reese Smith Field and will mark the conclusion of Middle Tennessee's five-week fall practice schedule.
