MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Senior Trevor Short won his third straight singles match and a pair of doubles pairings advanced to the third round during prequalifying action Saturday at the Icy Hot/ITA All-American Championships at The Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Battling a badly swollen knee, senior Short won his third straight singles match over Ohio State's Joey Atas, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3, advancing to take on Central Florida's Catalin Bradu on Sunday.

In other singles action, Andreas Siljestrom dropped a 2-6, 7-5, 3-6 decision to San Diego's Jason Pongsrikul late Friday, while Rishan Kuruppu defeated Tennessee's 17th-seeded Wade Orr late Friday, 6-4, 6-3. Kuruppu dropped a 2-6, 3-6 decision to East Tennessee's Alejandro Salazar Saturday morning.

In doubles action that began Saturday afternoon, Kirk Jackson and Short lost to East Carolina's Mark Gellard and Charl Meyer, 8-5, while Kuruppu and Siljestrom dropped an 8-6 decision to New Mexico's Henry Gers and Jasmin Hodzic. Brandon Allan and Kai Schledorn won 8-6 over UT-San Antonio's Jonas Hoglund and Robert Kirchner, while Pollack and Sitaram drew a bye into the second round.

Allan and Schledorn won 9-8 (4) over Victor Hebrund and Matt Roberts of Arkansas and advance to take on BYU's Richard Dasek and Erik Nyman, though whether the match takes place late Saturday, Sunday or Monday was unknown because of BYU's policy not to play on Sundays.

Pollack and Sitaram defeated UC-Santa Barbara's Alex Anselme and Mike Placek, 8-4, and will play Denver's Nejc Smole and Viktor Zetterholm.
