Hughes, Alsobrook Lead XC at Louisville
October 4, 2003 · MT Media RelationsAlsobrook was the top Lady Raider for the third time in as many races this season in the women's 5K race at the University of Louisville's Shelby Campus, finishing 87th in 22:21.49. Redshirt freshman Lauren Milbourn followed in 22:41.07 (92nd), while sophomore Kishara George was next (23:22.64, 98th). Fran Haas finished in 24:21.15 (107th) in her first race of the season, and Kerry Barrow (32:34.56, 115th) was the final Lady Raider harrier.
Hughes was the top Blue Raider in the men's 8K race, as senior Geoffrey Lagat did not run because of a troublesome toe. Hughes finished 48th in 27:25.33. Zack Wood placed 79th (28:28.99), while Tony Carufe was 90th (29:31.79) and Carlos Gonzales came in 98th (31:04.38). Tim Hicks was the final Blue Raider in finish (33:15.85, 106th).
Both squads will run at the UTC Invitational in Chattanooga, Tenn., on October 18 before the Hardee's Sun Belt Championships in Bowling Green, Ky., November 1.
