Blue Raiders Tied for 4th; Nelms in 5th

MONKEY ISLAND, Okla. - Behind two solid rounds from Josh Nelms, the Middle Tennessee men's golf team stands in a tie for fourth place after 36 holes at the Shangrila Shootout. As a team, the Blue Raiders fired rounds of 291 and 296 for a 587 total on the par 72 Shangrila course.

Austin Peay owns the 36-hole lead with a 569 followed by Oklahoma City with a 583 and Southern Illinois at 586.

Nelms, who finished third in the Blue Raiders' last tournament, had a 3-under 69 in round one and followed that with a 73 for a 142 total. That score puts Nelms in a tie for fifth overall.

Blake Bivens and Chris Webb each recorded a 147 to tie for 18th. Bivens had a second round 71 for the Blue Raiders' second-best round of the day.

Senior Charlie Gibson is tied for 47th with a 151, while Kenny Green completed the scoring with a 155. Green is tied for 65th.

The final round will get underway Tuesday at 8 AM.
