Blue Raiders finish 7th at Shangrila Shootout

MONKEY ISLAND, Okla. - Middle Tennessee had a combined score of 889 to finish seventh out of 18 teams at the Shangrila Shootout. The Blue Raiders had rounds of 291-296-302 on the par 72 Shangrila - Blue course.

Austin Peay won the tournament with an 871, while Oklahoma City finished second with a three-round total of 875. Texas State was third and Southern Illinois came in fourth.

For the second straight tournament, Josh Nelms led the Blue Raiders with another solid, all-around showing. Nelms had a total of 216 to tie for sixth overall. Teammate Blake Bivens had an even par 72 on the final day to tie for 10th with a 219 total. After opening with a 76, Bivens played the next 36 holes one-under par.

Chris Webb tied for 26th with a 225, while Charlie Gibson tied for 52nd. Gibson had a 229 total.

Kenny Green, who was the difference in last week's Blue Raider victory, rounded out the scoring with a 235 to tie for 75th.

The Blue Raiders will not be back in action until Oct. 27-28 in Gulf Shores, AL, for the USA Fall Beach Classic.
