MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's women's tennis team swept it second straight dual match, winning all six singles and all three doubles outings for a 7-0 victory over UT Martin Saturday at the Racquet Club of Murfreesboro.

The Blue Raiders (2-0) won all six singles outings in straight sets after taking all three of the doubles tilts.

In doubles, freshman Stephanie Parkison and sophomore Pooja Kommireddi defeated UTM's Mary Beth Gunn and Martie Wahl, 8-2, at No. 3, before sophomore Marlene Chemin and junior Ann-Kristin Siljestrom clinched the first point of the match with an 8-2 victory over Ernestine Koomhof and Belisa de Brito. Senior Hala Sufi and junior Claudia Szabo finished off the sweep with an 8-6 triumph at No. 1 against Elizma Schoonees and Sara Leavy.

In singles Parkison defeated de Brito, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 3 and Szabo won 6-1, 6-2, against Victoria Cann at No. 6. Kommireddi clinched the team match with a 6-2, 6-2, triumph at No. 5 over Koomhof.

Sufi, ranked 47th nationally in singles, defeated Schoonees, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 1, before Siljestrom won 6-4, 6-3, against Leavy at No. 2. Sophomore Elvira Yusupova finished off the match with a 6-0, 7-6 (3), victory against Wahl at No. 4.

"We played really well, solid," head coach Alison Ojeda said. "In doubles right off the bat we took it to them at 2 and 3 even though Marlene and [Ann-Kristin] didn't play all that well at 2. We've been talking with them to find something that works and they did that.

"In singles it was good across the board. I'm very excited, as are the girls, about the wins and now getting ready for Ole Miss."

Middle Tennessee plays at 51st-ranked Ole Miss on Tuesday, February 6, at 2 p.m.
