Williams, Doubles Advance

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Freshman Jacqui Williams won her opening-round singles match and a pair of doubles teams also picked up victories during the first day of the Middle Tennessee Women's Fall Invitational Friday. Inclement weather forced play inside all day, with all action taking place at The Racquet Club.

Williams won her opening-round singles match in Flight C, 8-0, over Austin Peay's Jenica Proctor and advances to take on Christina Wieser of Memphis. All matches Friday, singles and doubles, played pro-sets.

In doubles action Friday, Jennifer Klaschka and Laura McNamara defeated Belmont's Laura DeHaan and Burgandy Moss, 8-2, in quarterfinal action of Flight A. The duo advances to play Katharina Sadofsky and Grace Kammerer of Southern Miss Saturday.

In Flight B doubles, Emily Vest and Ana Marie Cibils won 8-1 over Beth and Katie Flanagan of Chattanooga, also in quarterfinal play, and move on to play UT Martin's Gayatri Ramesh and Jeanne de Wet. Williams played doubles with Rebecca Garner of Memphis, and the tandem lost, 8-3, to Wieser and Kristin Noble of Memphis.

In singles action Saturday starting at 9 a.m., Cibils plays DeHaan and Klaschka takes on Lipscomb's Emily Ellis in Flight A, McNamara takes on Alana Carere of Austin Peay and Vest plays Ramesh in Flight B.

Action is expected to return outside Saturday, with a full slate of matches at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center.
