McNamara, Doubles Advance at MT Invitational

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Senior Laura McNamara won a pair of singles matches, and McNamara and Jennifer Klaschka advanced to the doubles final during second-day action Saturday in the Middle Tennessee Women's Fall Invitational at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center.

McNamara, who reached the singles finals last weekend at the Kentucky Fall Invitational, defeated Austin Peay's Alana Carere, 6-0, 6-0, and Troy State's Laura Alarcon, 1-6, 6-2 (10-4) to reach the Flight B singles semifinals. McNamara will take on Kristin Noble of Memphis in the semis.

In other singles action, Klaschka won 6-1, 6-0, over Lipscomb's Emily Ellis in Flight A, but dropped a 4-6, 6-2 (8-10) decision to Troy State's Carolina Aravena in the quarterfinals. Also in Flight A, Ana Marie Cibils defeated Belmont's Laura DeHaan, 6-4, 6-3 before dropping a 1-6, 4-6 decision to Chattanooga's Cynthia Oulevay.

In Flight B, Emily Vest lost 1-6, 2-6 to UT Martin's Gayatri Ramesh in the Round of 16. Vest then dropped an 8-4 decision to Chattanooga's Catherine Allen in the consolation bracket. In Flight C, Jacqui Williams lost to Christina Wieser of Memphis, 7-6 (7), 6-3.

In doubles play, McNamara and Klaschka won 8-1 over Katharina Sadofsky and Grace Kammerer of Southern Miss in Flight A before disposing of Andrea Feichtinger and Alexandra Tjoie of Memphis, 8-6 in the semifinals. The duo will take on another Memphis tandem, Marlene Dirnstorfer and Viktoria Gruber in the finals.

In Flight B, Vest and Cibils lost 8-6 to UT Martin's Ramesh and Jeanne de Wet.
