Jackson and Short won their first match of the day against seventh-seeded Paul Ciorascu and Catalin Gard in a walkover, as one of the Ole Miss players was injured during singles action earlier in the day. The Blue Raider duo then defeated Kentucky's 13th-seeded Evan Austin and Tigran Martirosyan, 9-7, Saturday evening.
Also in the Round of 32 doubles action Saturday afternoon, Brandon Allan and Kai Schledorn defeated UAB's Andre Maier and Kristijan Mitovski, 8-1. The duo then dropped an 8-4 decision to top-seeded and fourth-ranked Andrew Colombo and Gabor Zoltan Pelva of Auburn in the Round of 16 Saturday night.
In Round of 32 singles play Saturday morning, Jackson dropped a 6-2, 6-3, decision to second-seeded and ninth-ranked Jesse Witten of Kentucky.
Jackson-Short and Colombo-Pelva will match-up in the quarterfinals at 4 p.m. Sunday, with a possible semifinal match to follow at 5:30 p.m. Full results may be accessed at tennisinformation.com.
