Davis on the progression of his team: "I was very pleased with our last two workouts. The effort and intensity in our physical drills was very good. I was very proud of our effort. We still have a long way to go, especially from an offensive standpoint, but our guys really brought it the last couple of days. Our freshmen are really starting to pick things up and they are beginning to understand what we expect from them."

Early Risers: The Blue Raiders were on the practice floor before the roosters crowed on Tuesday morning. Despite the 5:30 practice time, Head Coach Kermit Davis said that the workout was possibly the best practice he's been involved in at Middle Tennessee. He said of the workout, "I don't know if we've ever had a practice as intense as this one was. Guys were all over the place, diving for loose balls and taking charges. They were really flying around out there this morning. I was very proud of our team's effort this morning."

Media Days: Coach Davis and Lady Raider head coach Stephany Smith will participate in the annual Sun Belt Media Days on Tuesday and Wednesday in New Orleans. The event highlights the tip off of the hoops season with media members from around the league. Davis will address the media at 4:10 Tuesday afternoon with Smith following at 4:20. Davis will then appear on KPEL Radio in Lafayette, La., with host Jay Walker at 4:25. Later in the evening, both Davis and Smith will be featured on Southern Sports Tonight with host Scott McKinney. The show airs live from Lucy's Attic in the French Quarter with the MT coaches scheduled to appear at 6:15.

More on Media Days: The Sun Belt will have several announcements at Media Days this week. On Wednesday morning, the league will announce its preseason all-conference teams and the predicted order of finish as voted on by the Sun Belt's head coaches. Also, Wednesday will see the release of the Sun Belt's television package schedule.

Davis Appearing at Stones River Country Club: Kermit Davis is the featured speaker at a breakfast at the Stones River Country Club on Friday morning. Davis will discuss his team and the upcoming season at the event, which is being hosted by Bill Rowland of First Bank. Davis said, "I really appreciate the support that Bill and his staff have given the basketball program. Last year we had a great turnout and we look forward to an even better one this time. He has been very helpful in helping make people aware that basketball is going on and getting the word out about season tickets."

Fan Jam Coming Monday: The annual basketball Fan Jam is slated for Monday, Oct. 27 from 6 to 8 PM in Murphy Center. The event will feature intrasquad scrimmages from both teams, interactive games with fans and students, free hot dogs and Coke products, an autograph session, and much more. The event is free and open to the public.

Pick-A-Seat: Monday, Oct. 27, is also the date for Pick-A-Seat, hosted by the MT Ticket Office. Fans can come into the arena, see which seats are available, and purchase them on the spot. The Pick-A-Seat event will take place from Noon to 6 PM. This year's Pick-A-Seat event will be the first time that the public has been able to get a glimpse of the new Murphy Center floor and the new configuration of the floor.

Fan Jam Remote Scheduled: WGNS AM 1450 will broadcast its Inside Sports program from Murphy Center during Fan Jam next Monday evening. The show, which is hosted by Bryan Barrett, John Dinkins, and Donnie Johnson, will feature interviews with both coaches and players from each team. Inside Sports airs from 6 to 7 PM each Monday.
