Nelms Ties for 7th with Third Straight Under Par Round

GULF SHORES, AL -Josh Nelms recorded his third straight round of golf under par on Tuesday to finish in a tie for seventh overall at the Fall Beach Classic. It marked the final tournament of the fall season for the Blue Raiders.

Nelms, who shot a 69 in round one and a 70 in round two, carded another 69 on the final day for a career-best 54-hole score of 208. Nelms was seven shots back of medallist Barry Roof of UCF.

As a team, the Blue Raiders finished 12th with an 865 on the par 72 Gulf Shores Country Club course. South Florida won the event with an 836,while Jacksonville State came in second at 837.

Chris Webb was the next highest Blue Raider finisher at 218 to tie for 46th. Kenny Green tied for 53rd with a 220, while Blake Bivens tied for 58th at 221. Bivens, who opened with a disappointing 77, shot the final two rounds at even par.

Senior Charlie Gibson completed the scoring with a 228 to tie for 74th.

The Blue Raiders will be out of action until Feb. 16 at the Rio Pinar Intercollegiate in Orlando, FL.
