November 13, 2003 · SBC
New Orleans - The 4,216th person through the gates at the Louisiana-Lafayette/Middle Tennessee football game this weekend will be the winner of a trip for two to the 2003 New Orleans Bowl on Tuesday, Dec. 16 at the Louisiana Superdome.

Why such an odd number? The 4,216th person through the gates in Murfreesboro on Saturday, Nov. 15 will be the 2,286,857th to officially see Sun Belt teams in action in the 2003 season, setting a new overall season attendance mark for the three-year old league.

The winner will receive a New Orleans Bowl prize package sponsored by the Sun Belt Conference that includes two New Orleans Bowl tickets, two nights stay in a downtown New Orleans hotel, and two round-trip airline tickets to New Orleans. Other amenities included in the package are tickets to select VIP New Orleans Bowl banquets and parties.

"This is a great sign of the growth of our football league over these three seasons, especially with two weeks left in the regular season," said Wright Waters, Commissioner of the Sun Belt Conference. "We are excited about the continued support of our fans as we work to become stronger and more competitive in I-A football. This is just a small token of our appreciation to those who come out to support our teams on a regular basis."

The third annual New Orleans Bowl will feature the champion of the Sun Belt Conference against a regional opponent from Conference USA on Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. in the Louisiana Superdome. The game will kickoff the 2003-04 bowl season for the third consecutive year and will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
