November 26, 2003 · MT Media Relations
Murfreesboro, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee senior free safety Will Martin was tabbed the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday in a voting by league media members. It marked the first player of the week honor in Martin's two-year career as a Blue Raider.

The Clarksville, Tenn., native earned the award after turning in his best effort as a collegian in the win over Arkansas State last Thursday night. Martin notched a team-best 11 tackles to go along with two interceptions and two pass breakups in his final game. Martin's third quarter pick set up the team's go-ahead touchdown, then his fourth quarter interception ended ASU's final attempt.

The award was the Blue Raiders' seventh of the season with three being on offense (all Andrico Hines), three on defense (Brandon Lynch, Michael Woods, Will Martin), and one on special teams (Robert Billings).

Martin finished the season as the Blue Raiders' leading tackler with 100 stops while sharing the team lead in pass breakups with seven.
