Tennis Teams Represented in Regional Rankings

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- The Middle Tennessee men's and women's tennis teams were both well represented in the Southeast Regional Rankings, released Wednesday by the ITA.

The Lady Raiders and coach Randy Holden had two singles players and one doubles team in the rankings.

Senior Manon Kruse, who played just five matches in the fall because of an injury, is 17th, while junior Jennifer Klaschka is 28th after a 7-2 fall mark that included two victories over nationally-ranked opponents.

The doubles duo of Kruse and senior Carien Venter are rated 10th after making it to the quarterfinals in qualifying at the Riviera All-American Championships.

The Blue Raiders and coach Dale Short were represented by one singles player and two doubles teams in the first regional ranking of the year.

Senior Trevor Short, who compiled a 7-4 mark this fall and won three times in prequalifying at the Icy Hot/ITA All-American Championships, is 35th in singles.

The doubles tandem of Short and senior Kirk Jackson are ranked sixth after posting six wins and making it to the quarterfinals of the Region III Championships. Also, sophomore Brandon Allan and freshman Kai Schledorn are 15th after picking up 10 wins in the fall, including a quarterfinals appearance in qualifying at the All-American.

The Lady Raiders play their spring opener January 22 at the Racquet Club in Murfreesboro against Austin Peay, while the Blue Raiders open the spring season January 24 at the Racquet Club against Indiana.
