December 19, 2003 · MT Media Relations
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Middle Tennessee junior Brett Carroll has been named a Louisville Slugger Preseason All-American, as announced by Collegiate Baseball on Friday.

The third baseman was named a Third Team Preseason All-American, his second such preseason honor after being selected by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association along with teammate Chase Swing last month.

Carroll led the Blue Raiders in almost every offensive category in 2003, belting 19 home runs and driving in 52 runs while batting .330.

Middle Tennessee made its third appearance in an NCAA Regional in four years and returns 22 letterwinners for head coach Steve Peterson. The Blue Raiders return 14 upperclassmen from that squad, including six everyday players who started at least 45 games, as well as eight pitchers.

The Blue Raider baseball program will also hold its annual Winter Baseball Camp, December 29-30, on the Middle Tennessee campus. For more information call 615/898-2961 or print off a brochure from the baseball page at goblueraiders.com.
