MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee continued to add depth to its soccer roster with the addition of Vanessa Mueggler, who has signed a national letter-of-intent to play soccer for the Blue Raiders.

Mueggler is a forward/midfielder at John Rennie High School in Quebec, Canada, and she is one of the top-rated players in Canada.

"Vanessa is a very skillful and tricky player with great vision," Rhoden said. "She has exceptional passing and shooting range. She is a great leader on the field and has exceptional work rate. Vanessa will provide us with several attacking options and should have an immediate impact on our team."

Mueggler has been involved with the Canadian National Team and participated in the U-15 Eastern Camp, Top 22 in Canada, and was scouted at the U16 Canadian Championships, and she attended the National Training Center in November.

The talented player has enjoyed immense success with her club team, the Lac St. Louis Lakers, which won the championships at U-13, U-14, U-15, and U-16, and Mueggler also was nominated for MVP of the league in 2006.

While playing for the Quebec Provincial Team (U-14 - U-16), Mueggler helped lead the team to a second-place finish at the U-14 Canadian Championships, as well as a fourth-place finish at the U-15 Canadian Championships. The squad finished fourth at the U-16 Canadian Championships.

Muegger also was involved with the National Training Center at U-14, U-15, and U-16, where she trained with national prospects on a weekly basis.

In addition to her high rate of success on the field, Mueggler also has a coaching certificate and has captained her club team for three years. She was the 2006 Impact Bursary recognition winner. Mueggler also is a lifeguard and works with mentally challenged children, and she also assists with delivering Christmas baskets to the less fortunate as part of her community service work.

Rhoden said the addition of Mueggler, coupled with the six additional signees during the 2007 signing class, adds quality depth to the program.

"Our goal for this recruiting period was to add depth to every position in our program without compromising the quality of our team," Rhoden said. "This class has a player from every position and most players are comfortable playing two positions. In addition, we have increased our team speed, tactical awareness, and mentality. Despite their youth, this will be an exciting group of players to watch develop over the next four years. I am very pleased with the work our staff, team, and administration have done to secure such a talented group."

The 2007 signing class includes Mueggler, Bethany Bertovic, a defender/midfielder from Birmingham, Ala.; Kela Casiple, a goalkeeper from Miami, Fla.; Jaimee Cooper, a midfielder from Hixson, Tenn.; Kelly Downs, a forward from Hixson, Tenn.; Emily Harris, a defender/midfielder from Knoxville, Tenn.; and Francesca Howells, a defender from Cardiff, Wales.
