Middle Tennessee Defeats Lipscomb 68-47
December 30, 2003 · MT Media RelationsThe Lady Raiders came out of the gate slow and found themselves down by eight early in the first half, but relied on their defense to keep them in the game. It paid off when junior Ciara Gray came off the bench and tied the game at 21 on a three-point basket with 6:20 left in the first half.
Senior Keisha McClinic gave Middle Tennessee its first lead of the game with 5:18 on a lay-up. The Lady Raiders held Lipscomb scoreless in the final five minutes of the game and went into the locker room leading by seven 28-21.
It was all Middle Tennessee in the second half as the Lady Raiders scored 40 points to Lipscomb's 26. After shooting only 34 percent from the field in the first half, the Lady Raiders scorched up the boards hitting 16-of-32 for 50 percent in the second half.
Patrice Holmes scored 15 points and had five assists and four steals against Lipscomb. Junior Ditte Jakobsen scored a career-high 10 points in the game and also had one steal. Freshman Krystle Horton recorded her third double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Gray tied her season-high with 12 points and also had a career-high five steals.
Middle Tennessee takes five days off before coming home to the Murphy Center to host Houston on Monday January 5. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
