MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee women's tennis (1-0) defeated Austin Peay (0-2) 7-0 Thursday in the Murfreesboro Racquet Club.
The Lady Raiders opened the match with a sweep in the doubles matches. Freshman Jacqui Williams and junior Ana Maria Cibils got the call at No. 3 doubles, and defeated the Lady Govs' Lessie Mills and Cindy Wall 8-4.
In two of the six matches, in singles, Middle Tennessee players did not allow their opponent to score a point. Junior Jennifer Klaschka blanked Austin Peay's Mills 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 singles and senior Laura McNamara shut out Isabelle Rzeznickzek 6-0, 6-0.
Middle Tennessee goes on the road for the team's biggest test of the young season when the Lady Raiders face No. 15 Kentucky Saturday. The match is set for 4 p.m.
