Kruse Upsets No. 23 Kalsarieva in Lady Raider Loss

LEXINGTON, Ky. - No. 54 Manon Kruse upset No. 23 Aibika Kalsarieva at No. 1 singles in the Middle Tennessee's (1-1) 5-2 loss to No. 15 Kentucky (3-0) Saturday at Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex.
Kruse, a senior from Hamm, Germany, had no trouble with Kalsarieva as she won the first set 6-1 and then finished her off 6-2 in the second set. She improves to 2-0 in the spring season and 8-2 overall.
Junior Jennifer Klaschka was the only other Lady Raider to win in singles as she defeated Sarah Foster 1-6, 6-4, 5-3 at No. 2 singles. Klaschka and doubles partner Laura McNamara were the only Lady Raider doubles team to record a victory as they defeated Joelee Schwenk and Lara Maurer 9-7 at No. 2 doubles.
Middle Tennessee returns to action on February 3 when the Lady Raiders host Chattanooga in the Murfreesboro Racquet Center. Match time is set for 6 p.m.
