MCKENRY APPEARS IN SAL ALL-STAR GAME: Former Middle Tennessee All-American Michael McKenry played in the South Atlantic League All-Star Game Tuesday night in Rome, Ga., collecting one hit for the South. McKenry's squad collected 11 hits but stranded 11 runners in a 3-1 loss to the North. The Knoxville, Tenn., native was 1-for-2 with a single and a strikeout, playing the final four innings of the contest. McKenry is batting .270 in 55 games for the Asheville (NC) Tourists, the Single-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. He has 18 doubles, eight home runs and 39 RBIs as well as 31 walks and 36 runs scored. The Tourists were 42-27 at the All-Star break in second place in the South Division of the South Atlantic League.

MARTIN MOVES UP: Former Blue Raider All-American Todd Martin is finally healthy after batting hamstring issues since March. Martin was recently moved up from the GCL Indians to the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in the short season New York-Penn League. The Scrappers first game of the season was rained out Tuesday at Jamestown (NY). The club opens its home schedule on Friday versus the Batavia Muckdogs.

KENDRICK ALSO PROMOTED: Middle Tennessee's Wayne Kendrick, who led the Blue Raiders in six offensive categories this season, spent three days in Sarasota, Fla., after signing his free agent contract with the Cincinnati Reds before the organization sent him to Billings, Mont. Kendrick opened the season Tuesday for the Billings Mustangs in the Pioneer League. The Mustangs open their home schedule Friday against the Missoula Osprey.

RAY ALSO BEGINS SEASON: Blue Raider Matt Ray, the shortstop on this year's club, also began his season Tuesday with the Vancouver Canadians in the Northwest League. The Riceville, Tenn., native was 1-for-3 with a walk in the season opener against the Tri-City Dust Devils. The Canadians continue their season-opening homestand through Sunday.
